Volt Padel is a Portuguese padel brand founded in 2016 with the mission of creating padel sports equipment with a unique balance between quality and design. The project’s goal was to develop an exclusive padel equipment collection consisting of a racket bag, a backpack, and a cover.

The challenge was to create a unique collection that would distinguish Volt from the wide variety of products already on the market. This required an exhaustive immersion in the padel sector and its users to develop a product that met all their needs. We studied the interactions and experiences of different archetypes of people through journey maps, detailing the different stages, emotions, touchpoints, and key experiences during their routines in padel practice.

Collection Concept – One of the most important properties was ensuring the equipment stayed clean when in contact with the ground, especially in locker rooms. By using waterproof, easy-to-clean materials  in these areas, we ensured that the surfaces that touched the ground did not coincide with the areas that rest against the back. This was essential for both the backpack and the padel bag, which also required specific compartments for shoes and dirty clothes to maintain interior cleanliness.

User Experience – To protect the racket during transport, we designed specific and easily accessible compartments. To differentiate them from the other compartments, we incorporated thick zippers typical of wetsuits, featuring Volt’s slogan on the long pull tabs: “UNLEASH THE TENSION.” This way, we connect players, Volt, and padel from the moment they arrive at the court, draw out their racket, and start the match. There are also special compartments for the most important accessories: the tube balls.

Design Details – From field research on the court, we noticed that is was common practice to pile backpacks up against the fence and the ground. We solved this issue with a hook that allows the equipment to be hung directly on the fence. Another key aspect of the research was finding the most suitable compartmentalisation for each piece of the collection, based on the specific needs of each user.

CMF Design (Color, Material and Finish) – To ensure consistency throughout the collection and with the Volt brand, we selected materials and finishes so that all products are made from the same materials and feature a cohesive graphic style.
